Dublin, Oct. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "Plant-based Beverages Market by Source (Almond, Soy, Coconut, and Rice), Type (Milk and Other Drinks), Function (Cardiovascular health, Cancer prevention, Lactose intolerance, and Bone health) and Region - Global Forecast to 2023" report has been added to *ResearchAndMarkets.com's* offering. The global plant-based beverages market is estimated to be valued at USD 11.16 billion in 2018 and is projected to reach USD 19.67 billion by 2023, at a CAGR of 12.0% during the forecast period. The growth of the plant-based beverages market is attributed to the growing popularity of vegan diets, especially among millennials. The increasing demand for low-calorie options, amidst adaption of hectic lifestyles in developing countries. Additionally, companies are showing interest in the niche plant-based beverage segments by acquiring local players or investing in innovative products to tap consumer interests, which has also propelled the growth of this market. However, due to premium pricing of plant-based products in several countries, the cost of these products remains higher than dairy products. Therefore, Manufacturers are working on bringing down the prices of these products remains a challenge for the manufacturers in this market. Apart from this, in many emerging countries, there is a lack of awareness among consumers about the benefits of plant-based beverages over dairy beverages, owing to lack of proper promotional strategies. As a result, high reliance on dairy milk products is still prevalent in these regions.
* Almond milk: The largest segment in the plant-based beverages market, by source.*
The almond milk segment is estimated to be the largest market for plant-based beverages, by source. Almond milk has been gaining popularity across several coffee shops in the US. California, US, is the hub for almond production. Blue Diamond Growers (US) is a leading almond processing company, which offers almond-based products under its brand Almond Breeze. The brand represents almond milk made from California almonds.
*The milk segment, by type, is projected to be the larger segment of the plant-based beverages market by 2023*
The milk segment is estimated to be the larger segment in the plant-based beverages market in 2018. The demand for plant-based milk is higher compared to other drinks, as product offerings for plant-based milk are much higher compared to other drinks such as shakes, smoothies, and nogs. Companies are offering a wide variety of plant-based milk made from almond, soy, coconut, and rice. Apart from this, other milk sources such as cashew, oats, pea, and hemp are also gaining popularity in the market. Thus, with an extensive range of plant-based milk options available in the market, the demand for plant-based beverages is expected to increase in coming years.
*Asia Pacific is projected to be the fastest-growing market for plant-based beverages during the forecast period.*
Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing regional market for plant-based beverages. The revenue from plant-based beverages is increasing in the Asia Pacific region, due to consumers seeking low- calorie options. The region is home to key revenue generating countries such as China and Thailand. In 2018, plant-based foods were one of the key trends in Thailand. Apart from this, the major dairy companies in China have been planning to penetrate the niche plant-based beverages market. Thus, there are high growth prospects for plant-based beverage manufacturers in this region. The main target group for these products is expected to be middle/high-income groups in these countries since plant-based beverages are premium priced.
The plant-based beverages market is dominated by key players such as The WhiteWave Foods Company (US), Blue Diamond Growers (US), Pacific Foods (US), Hain Celestial (US), and SunOpta (Canada). ATP Liuzhou Challenger: Prajnesh Gunneswaran takes revenge, beats Thomas Fabbiano to reach semis
India's Prajnesh Gunneswaran knocked out third seed Thomas Fabbiano of Italy to seal his place in the semifinals of the Liuzhou Challenger in China on Friday.
The win enabled Prajnesh to exact sweet revenge over Fabbiano, who had defeated the Indian in the final of the Ningbo Challenger last week.
Prajnesh came from behind to beat the Italian 6-7(5) 6-1 6-3 in the battle of baseline, having lost to him the title clash, last week.. Prajnesh struck the ball hard, retrieving almost everything thrown at him and found some delectable winners on both flanks.
Asked how he managed to beat Fabbiano this time around, Prajnesh said, the conditions suited him better. "The courts were a bit slower and it suits my game more. I played well. It was not the best of first set. I had chances but did not play well when I was close to getting break of serves," Prajnesh told PTI.
"In the second set I really played well. I got an early break and played well to finish the set. The third set was very close, could have gone either way. I saved a breakpoint at 3-3. I broke at 4-3 and served very well in the last game of the match," he said.
Prajnesh finished the two-hour eight minute battle with an ace, serving at love. In the doubles, fourth seeds N Sriram Balaji and Saketh Myneni lost in the semifinal 7-5 0-6 5-10 to second seeds Mao-Xin Gong and Ze Zhang.

Russian fans not guilty of Rome subway escalator crash
CSKA fans were not involved in the escalator accident that occurred in subway of the Italian capital of Rome on the eve of the Champions League match between CSKA and Roma. The police studied CCTV footage of the accident and concluded that Russian fans were not jumping on the escalator, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera said. On October 24, CSKA fans officially stated that they did not cause the escalator to accelerate and crash. The fans insisted that they had nothing to do with the accident. Up to 30 people suffered injuries of various degrees. Most of the injured were fans of CSKA football club who came to Rome to attend the match of the third round of the Champions League group stage with Roma, Italy. CSKA lost to Roma 0:3. EUR/USD erases losses as Wall Street tumbles and US bonds jump
· *US Dollar drops sharply as US yields reversed. *
· *EUR/USD bounces from 2-month lows, approaches 1.1400.*
The EUR/USD pair almost 50 pips from the 2-month lows it reached earlier at 1.1333 amid a slide of the US dollar across the board. The euro hit a fresh daily high 1.1386 and as of writing was hovering around 1.1380, modestly higher for the day.
The move to the upside took place amid a sharp slide in equity prices. The Dow Jones was falling 400 points or 1.61%. The index hit a fresh 3-month low. The main driver of USD weakens appears to be a decline in US yields. The 10-year dropped to 3.06%, the lowest in three weeks (seven days ago that yield was testing 3.20%) on the back of risk aversion.
The US Dollar Index reversed sharply erasing all gains. Earlier today approached 2018 highs and peaked at 96.87, before turning to the downside. Recently hit a fresh daily low at 96.50. US Q3 GDP data failed to boost the greenback and now attention remains Wall Street. Regarding the euro, S&P will make today an announcement on Italy's credit rating.
*EUR/USD Levels to watch *
The euro is bouncing today from near the 1.1300 area that also capped the downside two months ago, showing some positive signals after days of significant losses. If the correction extends, resistance levels might be located at 1.1385 (Oct 26 high), followed by 1.1400 and 1.1430 (Oct 9, 19 low / Oct 25 high). On the downside, the immediate support is seen at 1.1355 followed by 1.1330/35 that protects the key 1.1300 zone.
