Bellucci Premium, a high quality extra virgin olive oil producer, responds to an article published by Michigan State University Extension that discusses two healthy oils, olive oil and peanut oil.
In an article published by Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) on December 29th titled “Two healthy oils,” the differences between healthy and unhealthy oils are explained. To determine if a cooking oil is healthy, MSUE says all fat content needs to be taken into consideration. If a cooking oil is low in saturated and trans fats, but high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, then it is a healthy oil. Unhealthy oils are heavy in saturated and trans fats. MSUE explains the differences between these fats:· Saturated fats are solid at room temperature, usually come from animal products and contain cholesterol.
· Trans fats have undergone a chemical change, are found in many store bought baked goods and should rarely be consumed.
· Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are considered beneficial fats and are found in vegetables, fish and nuts. These fats can help lower cholesterol.
The article explains that the two healthy choices of cooking oil are peanut and olive oil. Olive oil, in addition to its health benefits, “adds a unique flavor to any dish.”
Natalie Sexenian, the marketing manager for high-quality extra virgin olive oil producer Bellucci Premium, says, “It can be difficult to incorporate monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats into one’s diet. They are uncommon in nature than other fats, such as saturated fat. However, incorporating olive oil dishes can be easy and will help to increase your intake of these brain and heart healthy fats.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
