On Friday 10 January, we saw the start of a stunning new series of ‘Italy Unpacked’. Following the success of the first series broadcast in 2013, Series Two of ‘Italy Unpacked’ is sure to be another breathtaking journey.
Series Two will see presenters Andrew Graham-Dixon and Chef Giorgio Locatelli take a journey to explore the country’s history, culture, food, art and landscape. This latest series sees the presenters explore the west coast of Italy, in three hour-long episodes.
The first episode took Andrew and Giorgio Locatelli to Liguria, a region bordered by mountains and a stunning rocky coastline. Exploring the culture and cuisine of this diverse region, their first stop was the city of Genoa. Genoa was once a maritime city and its baroque palaces ooze glamour with stunning art and decor.
The next stop for the presenters was Tuscany, via Cinque Terre, a rugged portion of coastline which consists of five picturesque villages seemingly wedged into the cliff face. Journeying on from Cinque Terre, they head into the stunningly unspoilt Tuscan countryside, exploring a hidden gem of Renaissance Art in Pistoia and the famous city of Pisa. Their journey comes to an end in the first episode in the port city of Livorno, where chef Locatelli cooks up the delicious fisherman’s catch of the day.
