The free online week-long Go Global! Career Websummit (May 12-16, 2014) brings together leading experts on international and technical career development with insights by thought leaders in the engineering, architecture, and construction industry professions. Designed as a cross between a conference and a course, the "Websummit" format allows both attendees and speakers from around the world to come together for this innovative program. Live and pre-recorded presentation and interview sessions are aired each day this week at noon, 3pm, and 6pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Sessions are hosted by Go Global organizer Moe Vara (Global Empowering Solutions) and co-organizer Dr. Cat Shrier (WaterCitizen.Com) - who have a combined total of more than 50 years of engineering experience and both have certifications and practical experience in coaching, communications, and experiential learning.

After two powerful days of "Setting the Vision" and "Getting Prepared" through self-assessment, branding and strategic use of LinkedIn, the latter part of the week shifts to an outward focus on "Finding Your Career Paths,""Preparing for Leadership," and "Starting Your Global Career."

On Day Three (Wed. May 14), the Summit dives into specific strategies for Engineers, Architects, and Construction Industry Professionals (EACs) to find their international career paths. Leading engineering recruiter Karen Silk (Capital International Staffing Ltd, UK) kicks off the day with a discussion of the importance of "branding" yourself when working with recruiters, as well as her "Create the World You Want – A Career in Engineering" campaign to address the shortage of engineers by recruiting young women into the profession (Noon EDT). At 3pm, global mobility opportunities within a multinational company will be explored by a panel presentation from Golder Associates, with Ginger Kryzanowski (Global Talent Management Team, Calgary, Canada), Dr. George Annandale (Author of "Quenching the Thirst: Sustainable Water Resources and Climate Change," Denver, USA) and Roberto Mezzalama (Former Golder Europe Managing Principal, Turin, Italy). Blaine Leonard, former President of the American Society of Civil Engineers, finishes the day with a discussion of networking opportunities and approaches, as well as critical considerations for engineers exploring overseas opportunities.

Day 4 (Thu May 15) focuses on how EACs can Preparing for Leadership as they move their careers to a global stage. At noon, Go Global! hosts and engineer coaches Moe Vara and Dr. Cat Shrier offer a special live "power coaching" session in which attendees can bring questions on their own global career development challenges by phone, Skype, or computer. At 3pm, innovation, engineering, and education expert Sally Bendersky (SB Coaching, Chile) will share how EACs can become world-class communicators. The evening brings a special extended panel discussion on Culture and Leadership for Expat EACs. Discussing how EACs work at the front lines of civil, diplomatic, security, and humanitarian efforts, as well as the application of EAC innovations overseas, will be international flood resiliency expert Dr. Gerry Galloway (University of Maryland, former US Army Corps of Engineers); Dr. Ku McMahan (US Agency for International Development Office of Science & Technology); and Donna McIntire, M.Arch. (Chief, Energy & Sustainable Design Unit for the US Department of State).

On Day 5 (Fri May 16), the Summit "ends with the beginning" by supporting attendees in launching their global careers. At noon, Overseas Recruitment Consultant James Cunnane-Neilan (Ashton Consulting, UK) reveals how to master the interview to get hired for top pay. Finally, Moe Vara and Dr. Cat Shrier will provide a very special session on how listeners can take what they have heard over the course of the Websummit to launch their own expat EAC careers.
