Francis Drake Eyewear Also Suggests They Could Charge More for Their Italian Eyewear but Don’t
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) July 30, 2014
Francis Drake Eyewear, a newly launched boutique eyewear e-retailer, today announced results from Made in Italy vs. Made in China, a survey of more than 250 Americans who are eyeglass wearers. The survey was conducted to see consumer’s true feelings about eyewear manufactured in Italy versus eyewear manufactured in China.
First off, 75 percent of eyeglass wearers/consumers feel eyewear manufactured in Italy to be of superior quality than eyewear manufactured in China while 25 percent of eyeglass wearers/consumers either did not know or believed it was not superior.
The survey also asked consumers if they had a choice between two frames of similar price and style, but one was manufactured in Italy, and the other was manufactured in China, which one would they buy? 77 percent said they would choose the eyeglass frame manufactured in Italy while 23 percent did not care. One participant of the survey said they would buy the eyeglass frame that was manufactured in China.
“In the past four to five years, boutique eyewear e-retailers have been growing in popularity,” said Tyler Evans, CEO of Francis Drake. “Coming into the game late, we had to make Francis Drake Eyewear standout. The fact is that all the popular boutique eyewear e-retailers manufacture their eyewear in China. We felt that by offering superior quality over our competitors, we would be able to distinguish ourselves. First, we wanted to verify that the consumer would appreciate the difference in quality of Italian made eyewear. The results of our survey were undeniable, people still prefer eyeglasses made in Italy.”
The survey also sheds some light on the spending habits and pricing of Italian made eyewear. First, they were asked if they expect eyewear that is manufactured in Italy to be more expensive than eyewear manufactured in China. To no surprise, 86 percent of the consumers said yes while only 13 percent said no.
Finally, 66 percent of eyeglass wearers/consumers said they would be willing to pay more for eyewear manufactured in Italy.
“Just as I thought, consumers are willing to pay more money for Italian made eyewear but why charge more just because we can?” Evans continued. “Don’t people deserve to have great quality product at a great price? Don’t people deserve a great deal? Yes. People should not have to sacrifice quality for price.”
