The pace of contraction is easing in Italy. GDP fell by 0.2% in Q2 2013, after contracting by 0.6% and 0.9% over the previous two quarters. Survey data suggest that activity might swing back to growth in the second half of the year. Hard data signal that output was still falling in Q2 2013, but the pace of contraction was easing. After declining by 0.9% q/q and 0.6% q/q over the previous two quarters, the Italian national statistics office (ISTAT) reported that GDP fell by 0.2% q/q in Q2 2013.
