Ex-Basketball Player & Celebrity Fashion Coach Jean Francois Bro Grebe discusses “the do’s and dont's” about men’s wear, his “sur mesure” clothing line for athletes and reveals his partnership with Marlon Wayans on Maria Menounos’ Black Hollywood Live Network.
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) October 07, 2014
Self taught, 6’7 tall ex-professional basketball player, style consultant, and celebrity fashion coach Jean Francois Bro Grebe discusses “the do’s and don'ts” about men’s wear, his “sur mesure” clothing line for athletes and how celebrities get lost in fashion when they hit the jackpot. He also reveals his fashion project with Marlon Wayans on Maria Menounos’ Black Hollywood Live Network.
When asked about the challenges of finding clothing for a man of his stature, Bro Grebe said “I hate going shopping, because for people like me, you can never find colorful classy clothes. I decided to make it all myself, I look good, my friends look good, so I created a circle. That’s’ why I named my company King's Law."
In addition to working with celebrities and atheletes like Sam Jones III, Stan Warwincka, Ray Lewis, Takeo Spike, Tom Sizemore, Carl Lewis, Johnny Pacheco, Romeo Williams, and Marlon Wayans, Bro Grebe explains how he got his inspiration to create a unique stylish outfit: “I do my consulation, I meet you and understand your world, what women you are into, what kind of clubs you go to, your lifestyle. When I meet you, everything matters and I am going to create a unique image that reflects yourself.”
Being influenced by his mother’s style, French and Ivory Coast roots, Bro Grebe revealed his fabrication to Black Hollywood Live, “At 13 years old, I learned how to design and create my clothes as I was very tall, and couldn’t find anything sytlish to wear. I learned the process of designing custom pieces for any wardrobe and truly developed a sense of style and an expertise in haberdashery. Today, I select vey high quality fabrics from Italy and all over Europe to create unique pieces."
In addition, Bro Grebe shared his partnership with Marlon Wayans and their introduction. “When I got introduced to Marlon through Shashi, his stylist, who set us up, we laughed for hours. For hours we couldn’t work. Then we talked and I understood his vision. He showed me his crazy ties collection. From the 90’s, some are 20 years old, with fur, any kind of ties, you name it. We became really close and Marlon has a great sense of style. Marlon has everything going on with his TV show and movies, but is working on developing a brand and we are right now talking about it, it’s in the air.”
Bro Grebe discussed his definition of the “celebrity effect” and trusting people in Hollywood. “When you become a celebrity you get everything at your feet, and you can’t trust anyone anymore. So they are searching and searching, but they don’t know what to choose as style. They start to buy gold, diamands, big shirts, things with no sense of fashion, they need someone to really advise them. They just don’t know, instead they should call me.”
As a fashion expert with French and African influences, he shared the “do’s and dont's” of the industry: “No sagging your pants. That is a no no. Do not wear any Michael Jordans’ sneakers with a suit. Wear loafers, boat shoes, but no sneakers.” He also mentioned his biggest pet peeve that “Some clients don’t wear underwear under their suits."
King’s Law Enterprise's formula for success is based on their core philosophy: Fashion is about expressing every man’s individual trait. Jean-François is a really busy man in Hollywood, traveling a lot between Europe and Hollywood to bring unique clothing and accessories and working to break the trend of the “bling” Hollywood style. His French inspiration, his charisma, and very accessible personality make him the best fashion friend you wish to have on your team.
