International nominees, patrons and sponsors of the GFAA gathered last night to be the first to hear the winners of the 2014 GFAA program announced during a live ceremony and event in Miami Beach.

The Global Fine Art Awards ceremony and event was held at the elegant Villa Azur Restaurant and Lounge in Miami Beach, where guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres provided by the restaurant, and hosted Champagne by Laurent Perrier.
The highlight of the evening was showcasing the 25 finalists’ with individually curated videos, which were projected on a nine-foot by twelve-foot screen. During the awards presentation, the video of each winner was played as their name was announced.
Adding to the allure of the evening, Massimina Caneva of Liaisons Abroad and Byblos Art Hotel provided an "Art in Italy" Raffle Prize Trip.
Napa Valley’s latest cult wine, Nellcote, donated bottles of their beautiful new rose to VIPs and donors of the award program.

The GFAA ceremony connects with the heritage and timing of Art Basel Miami Beach and the mega week of international culture. More than 75,000 people are anticipated this week in Miami, where they will experience all forms of art and design, music and fashion.
Miami Beach, mecca to the elite jet set crowd, was the ideal backdrop for staging the GFAA awards ceremony.
Over the past year, nominees were carefully vetted, and hail from as far as the Brouq Natural Reserve in Qatar to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. More than 200 museums and their respective programming of over 1,000 exhibitions, as well as vigilant coverage of over 50 major sources of art editorial, were the source for the selection of nominees.
Among the guests were luminaries of the art world- from editors and publishers, to museum directors, gallerists, artists and collectors.
In learning that the Museum of Fine Arts Boston’s exhibition created from her collection (CIFO Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation) won the award for best Contemporary and Post-War art, Miami-based Ella Fontanals Cisneros said, "I am proud to receive the Global Fine Art Award for Permission to be Global and would like to thank the Jury and organizers of this memorable event".
Katharina Christ, magister artium, project leader Kunsthalle and assistant to the CFO of UniCredit Bank AG and Peter Hansen, Rechtsanwalt LL.M and director at UniCredit Bank AG traveled from Munich to accept the award for Best Ancient Art exhibition. They said: “On behalf of Roger Diederen, director of Kunsthalle Munich and the entire team having shown 'life under the volcano' to almost 200,000 people, we would like to thank the GFAA for this prestigious award. Kunsthalle Munich is flattered to be amongst the first winners of this important new attribution to the global art world.”
Brian Schriner, Dean of FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts, attended the celebration and accepted the award, Best Old Masters and Dynasties for the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s “Treasures from Korea.”
He said, "Congratulations to the most-deserving winners. The Global Fine Art Awards is a visionary program, and I am honored to be part of the Advisory Board in the future."
In addition to celebrating the winners and all GFAA nominees, it was also announced that an active Advisory Board is in development for 2015.
In addition to Dean Schriner, Terence Riley, Architect, and former Director of the Miami Art Museum, joins the Board.
Corporate Sponsors Goihman Group of Douglas Elliman, and Artwide were thanked for their support.
About the GFAA Program:
The GFAA program honors innovation in design, historical context, educational value, and public appeal. The program is instrumental to develop interest and passion for fine art, and further its educational role in society.
This award program recognizes and rewards the best fine art exhibitions and installations of the past year (Aug 1, 2013 – Jul 31, 2014). Five awards are juried, and a sixth award, “Youniversal,” is determined by public voting. The program consists of a digital platform, with social media and website (http://www.globalfineartawards.org), and a live award ceremony in Miami that took place on Monday, December 1, 2014.
The 62 nominees in 5 categories include exhibitions from 18 countries, 36 cities and 5 continents. Of the top 100 art museums visited in the world, 26 are represented in the list of nominees, including 11 of the top 20 (as appeared in the April 2014 survey by The Art Newspaper).
The GFAA judges Dean Phelus, Peter Trippi and Cathy Leff, selected the winners from 25 finalists in the following categories: Contemporary and Post-War Art; Impressionist and Modern Art; Renaissance, Baroque, Old Masters and Dynasties; Ancient Art; Public or Outdoor Installation or Exhibition. All five juried winners and the sixth award winner, YOUniveral, receive a bronze trophy-sculpture created by UNESCO artist for Peace, Hedva Ser.
