Crow Canyon Offers Trips to Italy, Croatia, Peru, and Belize/Guatemala with Top Scholars
Cortez, Colo. (PRWEB) August 29, 2013
The Crow Canyon Archaeological Center announced today that it will offer four new itineraries for its international educational tours in 2014. For travelers with a passion for learning about diverse cultures, history, and archaeology, Crow Canyon will lead trips to Italy, Croatia, Peru, and Belize/Guatemala.
“Our new itineraries will include visits to some of the most outstanding examples of ancient architecture in the world,” said Clay Patton, Crow Canyon director of cultural explorations. “On our Peru trip, we’ll also be looking into a compelling subject that’s very relevant to today’s society—how people responded to ancient environmental catastrophes like droughts, floods, and earthquakes.”
Crow Canyon’s Adriatic Crossroads: Italy and Croatia (a two-part trip) focuses on the sea lanes of the Adriatic that have been crossed and recrossed for millennia—notably during the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires and the Venetian Republic. Travelers will explore the many historical threads of the Adriatic tapestry and enjoy some of the finest scenery and hospitality in the Mediterranean
Italy: June 26–July 5, 2014 | Croatia: July 4–14, 2014
(Travelers may sign up for either part, or combine the two trips.)
During Pre-Inca Cultures of Peru travelers will trace the relationship of Peru’s extreme geography with pre-Inca cultures. Scholars who specialize in geography, environmental catastrophes, and the archaeology of Peru will lead this exploration of sites such as the Chimú city of Chan Chan and the ancient pyramids of Caral.
July 26–August 7, 2014
The Ancient Maya tour will focus on the sacred geometry of Maya architecture, as well as Maya astronomy, agriculture, engineering, and communications—the remarkable achievements of a people whose descendants still live in Central America and southern Mexico today.
Travelers will visit iconic and seldom-seen ruins in Belize and Guatemala.
December 7–16, 2014
