Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) September 06, 2013

Following an article titled “Mediterranean Diet May Benefit Mind as Well as Body,” Bellucci Premium responds to evidence that suggests the diet is beneficial for cognitive function.

According to the article published on September 4th by Psych Central, diets rich in healthy fats, like the Mediterranean diet, can be beneficial for physical health and prevent against diseases such as diabetes. Other research has shown the diet’s positive effects on cognitive function.

The new research that is detailed by the article is the first to combine 12 different studies on the correlation between the Mediterranean diet and cognitive function. The results showed that the diet had a positive effect on cognitive function.

The researchers who analyzed these 12 studies came from the University of Exeter Medical School. According to the article, the results showed that “in nine out of the 12 studies, a higher adherence to a Mediterranean diet was associated with better cognitive function, lower rates of cognitive decline and a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease.”

The article reported that a greater adherence to the Mediterranean diet meant a lower intake of meat and dairy products. The olive oil rich diet also requires an intake of more fish, fruits, and vegetables.

Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Tuscan olive oil producer Bellucci Premium, highly recommends following a Mediterranean diet. “Not only is the diet made up of good fats and a high intake of vegetables, but it also includes extra virgin olive oil, which has many health benefits,” says Sexenian. “You can’t deny the benefits of extra virgin olive oil and how it can be good for overall wellness. Since the Mediterranean diet is so rich in olive oil, the benefits you receive range from protection against certain types of cancer, to lowering of blood pressure, to reducing risks of heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease.”

Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy. Reported by PRWeb 2 hours ago.
