Wi-Fi public hotspots are spreading all around the world, often based on very low cost Wi-Fi Access Points that are not able to provide an advanced level of security. Tanaza, the first multi-vendor cloud-based Wi-Fi management software, fixes this problem releasing SysLog for affordable devices.

Milan, Italy (PRWEB) November 27, 2013

Internet has to be available everywhere. People want to be connected in any place they are: in the street, in cafes, restaurants, and even retail stores and shopping malls.

There has been a trend in the last years of lots of solutions providers deploying lots and lots of low cost hardware devices. And after just a few years, such networks became very complex to manage, as they are composed of a variety of devices, most of which were not designed for public hotspot applications.

The issue with this situation is that those networks are not very easily manageable, generating malfunctions and frustrated users. Moreover, in some situations it’s required by law to keep logs for security purposes, and this is not always possible on those low-cost Wi-Fi Access Points.

This is for example the case in France, where the Hadopi et Anti-Piratage law requires to keep track of Wi-Fi Clients traffic. Italy had the same issue too, with the Decreto Pisanu law, which was later made softer in terms of responsibility for those companies whose primary activity is not being internet providers (2013).

Each country has a specific law which makes this more or less strict, but in general it is a good thing to have the option to enforce different levels of security, even when using affordable Wi-Fi Access Points.

In order to improve this situation, Tanaza (http://www.tanaza.com) just released the SysLog functionality, available for the first time to multi-vendor devices.

“Our goal is to allow anyone managing Wi-Fi Access Points to enjoy extreme levels of operational efficiency, thanks to a cloud dashboard that gives superpowers to IT Professionals when locally or remotely managing their Wi-Fi networks,” declared Sebastiano Bertani, CEO of Tanaza, “and we are committed to empowering Wi-Fi solution providers by providing all the tools that they need: the ability to store logs on local or remote SysLog servers is the latest feature that we released to enable a few interesting projects.”

Pat Campbell, owner at Campbell Communications, a Wi-Fi Solution Provider based in Dublin that recently started using Tanaza as infrastructure partner, stated that “Now, with SysLog, we can position cloud management with projects such as shopping centres and retail stores and be in full compliance with European data retention directive and in accordance with local regulatory requirements in respect of same.
