Expert on The World of 18th Century Crèches, Linn Howard has assisted her mother in decorating and displaying The Angel Tree at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which has been on display for the past 57 years. Linn and her daughter, Andrea Selby, now "religiously" keep up the tradition started by her mother in 1957.

Binns of Williamsburg in Merchants Square is delighted to host, Ms. Linn Howard, expert on Neapolitan 18th Century Crèche, says Thomas Smith, Assistant CEO, Binns of Williamsburg. I recently visited the Krippen Exhibition in the Bayerisches National Museum in Munich. Exhibited then, along with what is said to be the most impressive collection of 18th Century Neapolitan Figures, were pictures and descriptions of various installations of the Krippen (German for Manger or Crèche) during the last century. Like the staff of the Bayerisches National Museum, for over 57 years, the Neapolitan Crèche and Angels, have been lovingly and devotedly displayed for the world to see by Loretta Hines Howard and Linn Howard. Each year the tree is unveiled to reveal new groupings of figures, scenography updates and placement of Angels on the tree, by Linn and her daughter Andrea Selby.
This lecture will give you a glimpse into the world of the Neapolitan Christmas Crèche, an intimate look into the families' home and at her mother's personal collection and collecting styles. Linn's understanding of the History of Neapolitan Angels and Figures began at an early age, when she and her mother would travel to Europe together in search of figures, animals or Angels to add to her mothers collection. Linn will also give a personal account of how the Hines/Howard Collection in the Metropolitan Museum was amassed. Personal family slides are shown during Mrs. Howard's lecture which have not been previously published.
Millions of visitors from around the world have stories about their memories of visiting The Angel Tree at The Metropolitan Museum during the holidays. Now, Linn Howard will tell you her families story about how her mother, so generously and wholeheartedly gave of her spirit to ensure that the world could share in what she found so inspiring and moving, the Baroque 18th Century Crèche. To gaze on The Angel Tree at the Metropolitan Museum is to witness a tradition people from the world over have made pilgrimages to see. This is a rare opportunity to see and hear Ms. Howards lecture. "While there are curators of Neapolitan Figures and Crèche in museums around the world, I cannot imagine that anyone could be more knowledgeable and intimately experienced in the world of the 18th Century Neapolitan Crèche", says Thomas Smith.
Binns of Williamsburg has on display and for sale, master works of Angels, figures and iconic subjects of the Italian Presepe by the Scuoto Family of Naples Italy. Commissioned by both the Pope Emeritus and Pope Francis, HM King Juan Carlos of Spain, and countless others, The Scuoto Family have created master pieces of the 21st Century. View these examples, offered only at Binns outside of the families studio. Binns of Williamsburg was selected by the prestigious firm, La Scarabatolla to exclusively distribute the angels, figures and scenography worldwide. Reported by PRWeb 28 minutes ago.
