Xlibris Publishing Company published a new Children’s Christmas Book by 83-year-old William Turner. The book, “A Christmas Friend," was the first book by Turner, a former trial lawyer with the Kansas City law firm of Gage & Tucker (now Lathrop & Gage).

(PRWEB) December 09, 2013

The book features Sydney Hayes, the author’s surrogate Granddaughter. Sydney’s Mother, Selina, was an Australian foreign exchange student. The Author and his Wife, Katie, were the host family for Selina in Independence, Missouri. Selina graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence. Selina – and, later her husband and children – became part of the Turners extended family. The story was written for Sydney’s fourth Christmas. When Turner reached his 83rd birthday, he decided to have the book published.

Turner graduated from the University of Kansas School of Business and the University of Kansas School of Law. He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas School of Hospital Administration. He was the Director of the Gage & Tucker Trial Department. Before he retired from Gage & Tucker, the author and his wife resided in Independence, Missouri.

Turner currently lives in Los Angeles, California in the Highland Park neighborhood. He is the past President, of “We Tell Stories," a Children’s theater company located in Los Angeles.

Although “A Christmas Friend” is Turner’s first published book, he has written a number of articles, which were published in legal and medical journals. He was the co-author of the chapter “Legal Issues in Family Medicine” published in Family Medicine: Principles and Practice, 2nd edition, Springer-Verlag, New York. He wrote, Time Management for Lawyers, published in the October-November 1982 Edition of The Missouri Bar Journal.

To continue his “new career," the author is writing a full-length novel, and another children’s book to be published by Xlibris. In the novel, the characters live in such diverse locations as Kansas (Arcadia, Pittsburg and Mission Hills), Canada (the Yukon), and Italy. Reported by PRWeb 1 hour ago.
